A television signal distributor has commended Federal Government on its efforts to attain digital broadcasting and assured that the country would enjoy easy transition from analog to digital form.
Mr Lucky Omoluwa, the Chairman of Pinnacle Broadcast, a player in the implementation of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) made the commendation in a statement in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2016 launched the DSO which was driven by the Nigeria Broadcast Commission (NBC) as directed by International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
According to him, the transition from analog form of broadcasting to digital is very near.
He said: “we are encouraged by the drive of the NBC to achieve digital broadcasting in Nigeria, to beam light to the entire continent.”
The distributor, however, called on stakeholders in the broadcast industry to embrace the reality, adding that “content owners are the kings of the digital era.”
He further urged distributors to leverage on the unprecedented multiplicity of channels and high quality signals offered by the DSO.
Omoluwa recalled the 12th Biennial conference of African broadcasters recently held in Abuja, saying it was a step in the right direction toward digital era in the country.
He added that the social, political and economic arena in the country would never be the same again with the attendant growth, employment and prosperity that would be provided through digital broadcasting.
He said that “without any doubt, broadcasting in the digital era will achieve its purpose.”
NAN reports that Pinnacle Broadcast powered the national launch of the DSO in Nigeria in December 2016.
