The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO) has reacted to a statement claimed to have been made by the Onijan of Ijan Ekiti, Oba Samuel Fadahunsi that he did not exonerate the Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr Ayo Fayose of the death of Dr Ayo Daramola, a World Bank consultant who was attacked and killed in August 2006.
According to a press statement issued by the Director General of the campaign organisation, Dipo Anisulowo and made available to the press in Ado Ekiti on Friday, AFCO said all the statements of Onijan was on tape and since it is not in the interest of Yoruba tradition to disrespect or ridicule or embarrass royal institution, AFCO have refrained from sending the tape to television.
Anisulowo said that AFCO was fully aware of pressure mounted on Onijan by Governor Kayode Fayemi to recount the statement, “but truth is constant. The Kabiyesi has spoken to clear the air when Fayose visited him, what is now coming after is politics, which we are witnessing. “We are not unaware that Fayemi and his co-travellers were rattled by the Onijan’s statement absolving Fayose after rituals preformed by the Ijan Community had absolved Fayose of Daramola’s murder.”
Stating further, Anisulowo said,” Fayemi and the APC supposed to occupy themselves with looking for appropriate answers to the fours years of economic and social stagnation in Ekiti under Fayemi Administration.
Fayemi should tell Ekiti people why he returned Ekiti State to 34th position in secondary school public exams?. Why is Ekiti in huge debt, what has he done with the money?. Why are the workers, the teachers, artisans and commercial motorcycle operators want a change of government?.Why has the contractors abandoned sites? Why is poverty in the land? Why theiris general discontent against Fayemi Administration in Ekitiland?
“Fayemi should provide answers to all these instead of engaging in character assassination and naming calling. Our campaign is issue based. Our candidate holds Onijan and the people of Ijan in high esteem”.
