Nigeria Senior Male Cricket team, Yellow Green has been disbanded. President, Nigeria Cricket Federation Emeka Onyeama disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja.
Onyeama also announced the sack of the National Team Coach, Utte Ogbimi.
According to the federation’s boss who stated the reason behind their decision after reeling various resolutions reached, “the federation is undertaking a rebuilding process of the National team where young players from U-19 with passion to wear the national colors will be introduced to the some existing players with experience who still have much to offer the country.
“A new team and coaching crew will be announced in the wake of the proposed North West Africa tournament and the ICC/Africa T-20 tournament scheduled for September 2016.
The NCF President further shed light on how each player and official of the team were fully paid ahead of the competition after robust training session and blamed poor and outdated facilities for the country’s team inability to secure needed promotion. That was after he apologized to Nigerians.
The NCF President explained that despite the slip in the just concluded ICC world league division 5 in Jersey Island, the federation has consistently remained focused in their bid to give more Mileage to cricket game in the country
Also speaking, a board member Kayode Adeniyi assured of their unrelenting effort in repositioning cricket in Nigeria even as he promised that construction of new Cricket Overs which is 85% in completion would soon be completed.
