The Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) says it has vaccinated more than 51 per cent of the population in the state.Dr Mohammed Adis, Executive Secretary of the Agency, made the claim on Thursday in Lafia at a stakeholders engagement meeting on COVID-19 mass vaccination campaign.
Adis who was represented by the Director, Disease Control and Immunisation of the agency, Mr Sule Toma, said that the state had surpassed the national benchmark of 50 per cent vaccination of eligible population before Jan. 31.He attributed the feat, which placed Nasarawa State in the first position in the country, to the commitment of stakeholders.
The executive secretary thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule of the state for the support towards the vaccination of citizens to ensure that they were healthy and productive.
He charged the stakeholders not relent but to improve on their efforts to ensure that more people in their domain get vaccinated.Also, Mr Mohammed Abubakar- Ibrahim, the Director Health Education and Social Mobilisation lauded, stakeholders for the success recorded in the mass vaccination exercise.
He encouraged the people to avail themselves to take the jabs and the booster doses to get fully protected against the virus.Abubakar-Ibrahim dispelled the insinuations against the efficacy of the vaccines, saying they are safe and efficacious.
He urged the stakeholders to take the lead in taking the vaccine and encourage their families and congregations to do same.
