The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has adjourned the trial of Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, to January 22, following objections raised by the defense counsel.
On Thursday, the defense lawyer, Mr. Olalekan Ojo, objected to the inclusion of Insp. Innocent Agede, a member of the Command Monitoring Unit in Eleyele, Ibadan, as a prosecuting witness.
Ojo argued that the prosecution had failed to serve him with the witness’s statement summary, as required by Section 380(iii) of the Oyo State 2016 Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
Ojo further noted that he should have received all relevant materials, including photographs, CDs, and other documents the prosecution planned to present in court.
Justice Bayo Taiwo, after considering the defense’s objection, adjourned the case to January 22, 2025, to ensure the defense is properly served with the necessary materials.
Lamidi, the former chairman of the Park Management System in Oyo State, is facing an 18-count charge that includes armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms—specifically one AK-47 assault rifle and two SMG rifles with magazines. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The alleged offenses occurred on May 29, 2023, around 2:00 p.m. at the residence of Governor Seyi Makinde in Ikolaba, Ibadan. Lamidi had previously entered a not guilty plea to the charges on November 27, 2024.
