The Oyo State Government has issued a strong warning to corporate bodies, event organizers, and individuals planning large-scale celebrations for Valentine’s Day to strictly follow state regulations.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Dotun Oyelade, the state’s Commissioner for Information, addressed concerns over various promotions and advertisements inviting the public to partake in Valentine’s Day events across different venues in Ibadan, the state capital.
Oyelade emphasized that security forces must be engaged in any events organized for the day.
“All organizers must collaborate with security agencies such as the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun, Operation Burst, and other relevant security bodies to ensure proper logistics and safety measures are in place,” he stated.
He further noted that organizers, security personnel, and medical teams must agree on venue choices to guarantee smooth and secure events.
The state Ministry of Health, the Hospitals Management Board, and private hospitals, if needed, must be involved to provide adequate medical support.
The Commissioner warned that any violations of these guidelines would result in severe legal consequences.
He also reminded the public that the state is still grieving the tragic loss of 35 children during an event in Ibadan on December 18.
