Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has spoken about his ongoing contract situation with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Prompt News reports.
The Malian tactician, whose current deal runs until January 2027, has attracted interest from several top clubs and national teams following Nigeria’s impressive third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
In an interview with respected Nigerian journalist Osasu Obayiuwana, Chelle confirmed that negotiations for an improved contract are underway.
“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved, but I’ve left that to my agent to handle with the federation. My focus is on the job and the task ahead,” he said.
Chelle is set to lead the Super Eagles at next month’s Unity Cup, where he is also expected to assess talent from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) ahead of naming his squad.
Nigeria will take on Zimbabwe’s Warriors in the semi-final of the tournament at the Valley on Tuesday, May 26.
The Super Eagles are the defending champions, having won the 2025 edition of the invitational competition.
