Daniel Ogunmodede says the Super Eagles B team will break Ghana’s curse in Saturday’s 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.
Ghana has increasingly been a stumbling block for Nigeria. The West African rivals denied Nigeria a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Similarly, the Black Galaxies prevented the Super Eagles B from reaching the CHAN finals in Algeria in 2022, while Togo thwarted Nigeria’s hopes of appearing at the 2020 CHAN tournament.
Ogunmodede said his team is ready to end Ghana’s dominance over Nigeria.
“We’ve carefully analysed Ghana’s strengths and found that they rely heavily on history,” he said at a press conference in Uyo.
“We’ve done everything possible to ensure history doesn’t repeat itself this time. Whatever Ghanaian ‘curse’ exists must be broken tomorrow; our goal is to qualify for CHAN.”
