By Gracious Akujobi The League Management Company (LMC) has announced that Confederation of African Football (CAF) has shifted the date for the mandatory club licensing implementation programme to 2014.
This was made public through the LMC’s twitter handle where it was stated that this CAF’s respite for Federations allows a two-phased approach.
The first is making it compulsory to be in the statute book before January 31, 2014. The second phase which closes on November 30, 2014, effectively pushes implementation to the 2014/2015 season.
LMC further stated that the time in between allows for sensitization seminars on the licensing system.
According to CAF, 18 out of 54 National Association have set up their licensing bodies.
The new development according to LMC will certainly impact on scheduling of the 2013/2014 football season.
