Determined to organise a hitch-free football championship for the Africa-based professional footballers called African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has successfully concluded the Safety and Security Preparatory Workshops in the host countries of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya respectively.
This is even as Kenya has officially wrapped up the CHAN Safety and Security Preparatory Workshop, led by the CAF Safety and Security Department in collaboration with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Safety and Security Commission.
According to Dr. Christian Emeruwa, Head, CAF Safety and Security Department, the workshop in Kenya brought together 40 senior officers from the Kenyan Police High Command and other key security agencies in the East African nation.
“This marks the completion of the initial preparatory training for security commanders across all three host nations—Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya—laying a strong foundation for more targeted and specialized training sessions to follow”, Emeruwa told the media on Friday in Kenya.
Meanwhile, the CHAN Preparatory Safety and Security Workshop was also successfully organised in Kampala, Uganda with the programme bringing together all appointed Safety and Security Commanders.
It was facilitated by CAF and hosted by the CHAN LOC Safety and Security Commission and Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) respectively.
Prompt News reports that the Safety and Security Preparatory Workshops for CHAN 2024 in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda started a few weeks ago in Zanzibar where the Tanzanian leg was held successfully.
“We are delighted to announce the successful commencement of the CHAN 2024 Preparation Training Workshop in Zanzibar, CAF Security Czar told the media on that occasion.
