Rivers United defeated Algerian side USM Alger 1-0 in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.
Augustine Okejepha’s 10th minute strike separated both teams on the day.
Rivers United could have made the scoreline more emphatic but for their profligacy in front of goal.
Stanley Eguma’s side will travel to Algiers for the second leg next week Sunday.
A 0-0 draw will be enough for the Nigerian Premier Football League side to progress into the last four.
They are looking to become the first Nigerian club to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
