Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma is optimistic will secure a place the last four of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Port Harcourt club will entertain holders USMA of Algeria in the first leg of the quarter-final at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday (today).
Rivers United were eliminated at same stage of the competition by Young Africans of Tanzania last year.
Eguma is upbeat his side can surmount the hurdle.
“We are ready we know it’s a big stage of the competition, the quarter-final is a big stage considering the fact that we are playing against the defending champions,” he said in a pre-match press conference.
“USMA is a big team we respect them they have played a lot of matches in the competition and I believe they are going to give us a big match today.
“We are ready and want to give our best because Nigeria’ s name is at stake.
“Last year was our best shot in this competition and its our ambition to go beyond the finals, we know the threat USMA poses so if we are to achieve our ambition we have to beat them. READ ALSO:
