The former Chief of Staff to Bwari Area Council Chairman and Supervising Councillor for Health Hon. Atnadu Morris has likened the final of FCT FA Cup between EFCC FC and Sporting S.FC to Manchester United and Arsenal FA Cup at Wembley Stadium due mammoth crowd that witnessed the final.
Morris who represented the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. John Gabaya said Bwari Township Stadium has become a tourist centre for football fans and stakeholders due to first class facilities provided at the stadium by the council and FCT FA.
“You can see the massive turnout that witness today’s final . Bwari is a Mecca of football in Abuja. Every football cub want to adopt Bwari Township Stadium as their home. There is no day without football competition at the stadium.
All Nationwide League matches and some reschedule National League are played here because of the facilities and FIFA standard of the pitch. This stadium can host NPFL matches, just unfortunate that we don’t have premier league Club in Abuja.
“For today’s final, is full of tension and expectations. It is sad that Sporting S. FC loss at the end of the match vie penalty kicks. EFCC used experience to carry the day. I believe the two clubs will represent FCT well at the National level. I am also happy that my Chairman was recognized with an award.”
Morris also commended the level officiating by the match officials , discipline of both teams on and off the pitch and good sporting behaviour of fans and supporters of both teams.
