Buratai inspects weapons at engineering depot Kaduna




The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai on Thursday,  inspected weapons at the Command Engineering Depot (CED) in Rigachikun, Kaduna State.

Buratai was represented by the Chief of Training and Operations at Army headquarters. Maj-Gen Nuhu Angbazo.

Buratai conducted round inspections of the indigenous fighting equipment and innovations some of which were manufactured by Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON).

The weaponry included vehicles damaged during battle, which were repaired, refurbished, redesigned and upgraded at the CED.

Others locally made Combat and Support equipment inspected by the COAS included,  EZUGWU Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armoured vehicles and Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

The SPVs came in multiple configurations with specifications built to meet the challenges faced by soldiers in battle field.

Also inspected were fabricated Mobile Drilling Machine, Infantry Patrol Vehicles used for quick personnel insertion patrol, Special Forces related operations equipment and lathe machine for production of cylindrical surfaces.

Others were horizontal and vertical milling machines, smart factory, and eight unit of bedroom apartment for officers and soldiers among others.

The Commander CED, Maj.-Gen Sunday Araoye, thanked the COAS for the visit and ensuring availability of standard equipment for victory in the fight against terrorism and other forms of crimes.

The COAS also visited the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital Kaduna, where he inspected the renovated officers accommodation.
