After witnessing the ceremonial Taking of Oath of Office and Swearing-in of the 16th President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal Republic of Nigeria at Eagle Square, Abuja, Muhammadu Buhari’s eight years tenure as Nigeria’s President has ended.
Buhari who departed the Eagle Square at exactly 10:45 am after the transfer of power mounted by the Nigerian Armed Forces was seen waving to the crowd as he made his way from the VIP stand to a waiting black bullet proof SUV car which was followed by two like types of the Prado Toyota vehicles.
The convoy of vehicles and a handful of aides were seen following the ex-President’s vehicles to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
At the airport, Buhari boarded the Nigerian Air Force 1 aircraft which will take him out of the seat of power to his home town, Daura, Katsina State.
Prompt News reports that Buhari had last week hinted that he will head to Kaduna and later to his country home in Daura Emirate Council of Katsina state where he will spend his retirement.
