Reprieve has come the way of air travellers in Gombe state as President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the Federal Government’s takeover of the Gombe State Airport.
Gombe State Executive Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Inua Yahaya made the disclosure on Friday while fielding questions from State House Correspondents shortly after an audience with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Governor Yahaya explained that the move would ensure the availability of funds to maintain the facility throughout the lifespan of its operation, adding that the state government is exceedingly happy for the takeover.
Prompt News can confirm that officials of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) had last June inspected facilities at the Gombe State Airport and had certified it for the airlift of Muslim pilgrims in the state to Saudi Arabia for hajj.
