ABUJA – By Olusegun Lawrence
The Supreme Court has ruled in favour of the Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Justice Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, headed the panel that sacked Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and ultimately returned peace to the PDP.
Other Judges on the panel are Justice Tanko Muhammad, Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour, Justice Kayode Ariwoola and Justice Dattijo Muhammad.
Former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, who had been laying claim to the PDP National Chairmanship was however, absent in the Court.
Prompt News Online recalls that a Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, had declared Senator Sheriff as the authentic national chairman of the PDP.
Consequent upon the ruling, the Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee filed an appeal at the the Supreme Court, which was also challenged and lost by Sheriff.
