By Olusegun Lawrence Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki, has again lost bid to stop his ongoing trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday dismissed Saraki’s suit seeking to halt his corruption trial at the CCT.
In his ruling, Justice Abdul Kafarati held that ruling in Saraki’s favour would be at variance with the CCT that has assumed jurisdiction on the matter.
Justice Kafarati ruled, “I find that none of the claims fall within chapter four of the constitution.
“This court cannot interfere with the proceedings before the tribunal; it cannot also interfere with the duties of the respondents which have been imposed on them by law.”
Prompt News Online recalls that Saraki had asked the court to stop CCB from arresting and interrogating him.
The embattled Senate President is facing a 13-count charge at the CCT bothering on corruption and false declaration of assets when he was the Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.
