With many Polling Units (PU) closed for the 2022 Ekiti State Governorship Election as at 2:52pm, there are indications that many people may not be able to perform their civic duty due to the large number of registered voters and rowdy scenes at some units in the city centre.
Prompt News can confirm that over 200 people were struggling to vote at PU 017, Better-life Park, Bashiri Ward 10, Ado Ekiti, a situation which caused restiveness at the unit which has 2, 011 voters in the list.
The enthusiasm to vote may have prompted the large turnout of eligible voters but the number seems to have overwhelmed the INEC ad hoc staff who were at stage surrounded by the impatient voters hence they stopped attending to them momentarily.
But when the INEC Monitoring Team arrived the PU 017, Better-life Park, Bashiri, alongside Police Patrol Team, they admonished voters to be on single line to be able to cast their votes even when the voting time has elapsed.
Meanwhile, results have started trickling in as many Polling Units in Ado Ekiti have closed polls, counted votes and announced the results to the hearing of voters and party agents.
