Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has filed a case against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Zenith Bank Plc over the freezing of his accounts.
Mr. Mike Ozekhome (SAN), a constitutional lawyer filed the case on Tuesday, behalf of the Governor at the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti.
Consequently, the Court has directed the EFCC and Zenith Bank to appear before it on July 4, 2016.
The defendants are to show cause why the prayers of Governor Fayose, asking for de-freezing of his accounts should not be granted.
Prompt News Online recalls that Fayose’s accounts with Zenith Bank were frozen recently by the EFCC allegedly for having been used to receive about N4.7 billion from the Office of the National Security Adviser under retired Col Sambo Dasuki’s watch.
The EFCC has also alleged that chunk of the money was used to prosecute the Governor’s Election in 2014.
However, Mr Fayose has denied the allegations, insisting that his election was funded majorly by Zenith Bank as well as donations by well-wishers.
