Senator Godswill Akpabio, senator-elect from Akwa Ibom has emerged as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly.
PROMPT NEWS reports that Akpabio and a former governor of Zamfara state, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, were nominated for the senate president position.
The former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio garnered 63 votes to defeat his rival, Yari, who polled 46 votes.
Prompt News recalls that Senator Akpabio is the annointed candidate of the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
