Nine times African Champions, Super Falcons of Nigeria this afternoon landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja to a rousing airport reception.
On hand to receive the team inside the Baggage Section of the airport was the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.
He brought a message of appreciation from President Muhammadu Buhari on behalf of millions of Nigerians for winning the Total 11th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) on Saturday in Accra,. Ghana.
Kyari told the Super Falcons delegation that President Buhari is away to Europe and has sent his felicitation, adding that he will be favourably disposed to have audience with the team on arrival from his trip.
The COS later took a group photograph with the players who gave him the privilege to lift the cup to the cheering of everyone at the airport.
Also at the airport to receive the African Champions are the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi and Abuja-based Real Estate tycoon, Alhaji Oroji Jedo as well as some top staff of the NFF.
