Nigerian Army on Saturday announced that five of the 19 soldiers declared missing in action during battle with the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Wednesday have been found.
“We wish to inform you that the search party has this morning (Saturday) found 5 more officers and soldiers that were declared missing in action, including the unit’s Commanding Officer,” a statement by the Nigerian Army High Commnad said.
Col Sani Usman, Army spokesperson in a statement said the soldiers were found after concerted efforts initiated to search and rescue them.
According to him, the measures put in place to rescue them include the use of air assets, Special Forces and patrols.
“Although they are in a stable condition, they have been moved to our Medical facilities for medical care,” Col. Usman said.
