The Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, has counselled the youth to lead their lives in the faith of Christ Jesus and in obedience to God’s will and commandments.
He also asked new members of Mothers’ Union to always uphold the objectives of the worldwide organisation, including to promote conditions in Society, favourable to stable family life and protection of children.
Archbishop Ndukuba who is also the Bishop, Diocese of Abuja was speaking on Sunday at the Confirmation, Enrolment into the Girls Guild and admission of women into Women’s Guild/ Mothers Union held at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Wuse Archdeaconry, Wuse, Abuja .
The Cleric who quoted copiously from the Holy Bible reminded the 121 Confirmation candidates, mainly students and undergraduates that they are taking the right steps to come forward for Confirmation because the Holy Spirit can only come when one is confirmed.
Said he: “The Scripture here teaches us that a special gift of the Holy Spirit is bestowed through the laying-on of hands with prayer. And for as much as this gift comes from God alone, let us who are here present, pray to Almighty God, that He will strengthen with His Holy Spirit in Confirmation those who in Baptism were made His Children”.
The Primate of All Nigeria also told the 34 young girls Enrolled into Anglican Girls Guild (AGG) to uphold the objectives of the Guild which provides a unique opportunity for girls to learn how to keep themselves pure in heart, mind and body.
But the Spiritual Head of Anglican Communion in Nigeria who also performed the enrolment of 16 women into the Women’s Guild (WG) and 24 others into the referred Mothers’ Union (MU), reminded them of their big role in their various homes as mothers and wives.
According to him: “The purpose of the Mothers’ Union is to be especially concerned with all that strengthen and preserve marriage and Christian Family life. Membership is open to all who have been baptized in the name of the Holy Trinity and intend to support and work for the aims, purpose and objectives of the Society”.
Archbishop Ndukuba later lay-on hands on the candidates and later presented each of them with Certificate of Confirmation and Enrolment to show for excelling in the training and preparation for the occasion which includes written and oral examinations to test their readiness to be so admitted into the fold by the Primate.
He was assisted in the Special Service by over eight high-ranking priests in the Wuse Archdeaconry including the Archdeacon Wuse/ Vicar, All Saints Church, Wuse, Venerable Ernest Onuoha; Venerable Oluwaseun Owoeye of Anglican Church of the Resurrection, Duboyi (ACORD) and Reverend Bitrus Bako, Vicar, St. Jude’s Church, Wuye, Zone 3, Abuja.
