The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mr. Aliyu Ahmed has admonished the staff of the Ministry to inculcate the habit of punctuality, commitment and dedication as a way of galvanizing the human resources necessary for national development.
Mr. Ahmed who gave the admonition in a statement by Tijjani Mohammed on behalf of the Director of Press and Public Relations on Thursday, also advised them not to let their guard down as the nation continued fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the statement, the permanent secretary spoke when he received an Award of Excellence by the Department of Reform Coordination, Service Improvement and Innovation of the Ministry at the unveiling of Covid 19 Consciousness Information, Communication and Education Signage Week.
The Permanent Secretary, who decried the lackadaisical attitude of staff on punctuality and commitment to duties, noted that “only a change of this unwholesome attitude among staff would enable the Ministry deliver on her mandate and uplift our citizens out of poverty”.
Furthermore, speaking on the value of the event, the Permanent Secretary called on staff and indeed, all Nigerians not to let down their guards on Covid 19, since the pandemic remained active, worldwide, reminding the staff of the need to be conscious of the pandemic, stating that preventive measures remained very critical in the management of the pandemic.
Earlier, the Director, Department of Reform Coordination, Service Improvement and Innovation, Mrs. Nko Esuabana, stated that the Permanent Secretary was being recognized by the Department for his commitment and exemplary leadership in the Ministry which has been a source of inspiration for the Management of the Ministry.
She disclosed that three other staff from various departments of the Ministry were also being recognized and rewarded as Champions of Punctuality for their exemplary quality of reporting early at work.
