A recent bandit attack in Dogon-Kurmi, a vast area within Tafa Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, has left one herder dead and two others kidnapped.
The attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday, January 28, along the Garam Road, which connects to the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory and borders Kaduna State’s Kagarko LGA.
The herder killed in the attack has been identified as Usman Shehu, while the abducted individuals are Adamu Isa and Umaru Muhammad.
According to reports, the herders were camping with their livestock when the attack occurred.
A source close to the incident revealed that the herders, upon noticing movement around their camp, flashed a torchlight at the suspected kidnappers.
In response, the armed men opened fire, killing one of the herders and subsequently abducting the other two.
Confirming the incident, Niger State Police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun stated that the force received a report of the attack at around 2:30 a.m. on January 28.
The investigation showed that the armed bandits targeted a camp near Dogon-Kurmi village, where they killed one herder, identified as Usman Hoojji, and abducted 56-year-old Adamu Usman.
The police are continuing their investigation into the attack.
