Armed bandits have abducted two female passengers in Bacita community, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The victims were reportedly seized on Monday after the commercial vehicle conveying them broke down due to a mechanical fault in Bacita town.
Security sources disclosed that the vehicle, which departed from Niger State en route to Osun State, developed a fault at Bacita Junction, leaving passengers stranded.
“In the process, two female passengers were allegedly taken away by suspected bandits who capitalised on the situation,” the source said.
It was gathered that operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the Bacita Division have stepped up efforts to secure the release of the victims.
The NSCDC was said to have liaised with other security agencies to reinforce operations around the Jebba axis with a view to tracking the assailants, rescuing the abducted passengers, and ensuring their prosecution.

Meanwhile, security personnel have intensified surveillance across strategic locations within the community, while patrol teams have been deployed to forestall further attacks and support ongoing efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
