Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has unveiled a series of reforms in an attempt to end days of nationwide anti-government protests. In a televised address she said she would draft a new plan to benefit public transport and that all oil royalties would be used in education. If confirmed by the Senate, James Comey will replace outgoing director Robert Mueller III, serving for 10 years. The death toll from flooding and landslides following heavy monsoon rains in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand has passed 500. The state’s Chief Minister, Vijay Bahuguna, said 556 bodies had been seen floating or buried in “slush”, and that the army was working to recover them. Ten people drowned and 20 remained unaccounted for after a boat carrying West African clandestine migrants sank off the coast of Gabon, the police said on Friday.The boat had left Nigeria and was within 15 minutes of arriving in Gabon’s capital, Libreville, when it went down late on Tuesday night.
