The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one Kingsley Mudi over alleged ATM fraud. He was picked up at about 11 pm on August 2, 2013 at Fidelity Bank ATM on Airport Road, Warri, Delta State following an intelligence report. At the point of arrest, 30 ATM cards of different banks with which he allegedly withdrew a total sum of five hundred and fifty thousand naira (N550, 000) were found in his possession. The father of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos state, M.r Ademola Fashola, is dead. According to the Special Adviser to Governor Fashola on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, he died at the age of 79. Mr. Bello, who said the death occurred in the early hours of Monday at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos, however, said the state government would announce the burial arrangement soon. Governor Fashola and his Media aide are both in Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj (Umrah).

The US says it will keep some of its embassies in north Africa and the Middle East closed for up to a week, due to a possible militant threat. Twenty-one US embassies and consulates closed on Sunday. The State Department in Washington said the extended closures were due to the exercise of caution, and not a reaction to a new threat.
