The Special Adviser on Sports to Kwara State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Attahiru, has congratulated the Nigeria U-19 Boys Team over African Nations Volleyball Championship held in Morocco.
Attahiru in a statement on Wednesday in Ilorin thanked Coach Adekalu Adeniyi and all the members of the Nigeria U-19 Boys Team for their hard work and dedication throughout the Championship.
He also commended the “President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engr. Musa Nimrod, his board members and all others who have contributed to the astonishing transformation of the Nigeria Volleyball teams from underdogs to gallant winners and glorious back to back volleyball champions of the African continent.
He said: “I want to congratulate the players and the coaching crew who have worked very hard and played with great focus, dedication, artistry and patriotism to make Nigeria the proud champions of Africa once again after winning it on home soil in 2021. ”
The statement added that “Attahiru believes that the team’s amazing transformation is a clear manifestation of the even greater successes other volleyball teams can achieve if all volleyball stakeholders come together and devote their immense collective energies and resources to supporting the implementation of Musa Nimrod Agenda for National Transformation”.
Attahiru believes that having conquered Africa, the new Nigeria U-19 Boys can go on to achieve even greater glory at the World Cup in 2023.
He equally commended the efforts of Nigeria’s accompany Referee, Shebba Jefferson, for her relentless efforts in ensuring Nigeria gets maximum support during the just concluded Championship.
He also thanked the Government of Morocco and the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) for a well-organised tournament and “looks forward to receiving the two players from Kwara (Mora Jubril and Tiamiyu Ismail) in the contingents when they arrive. (NAN)
