KRC Genk forward Tolu Arokodare has said he won’t give up on his aspiration of wearing the green and white shirt of NigerIa.
Arokodare has caught the eye with his impressive displays for Genk this season but is yet to get the desired recognition at the international level.
The 23-year-old has scored seven goals in 11 league appearances for the Smurfs in the current campaign.
The former Amiens SC of France player is hopeful his chance will come soon.
The striker was snubbed by Nigeria in the recent 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
“For the national team, I know that I have to play in a major competition in the long term. If a Nigerian striker scores three times in the Premier League or the Bundesliga, I know that I have to score at least eight times to have a chance of being called up,” he told De Standaard.
“It would be great to wear the shirt of my country. If the national coach does not call me up, I still have a club to focus on.”
