The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of Fidelis Adamu, the alleged leader of a notorious cult group known as the Jungle Boys.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Samson Nantip Zhakom, spokesperson for Operation SAFE HAVEN, troops also apprehended a suspected cattle rustler, Nashak Wilson, in Plateau State.
Zhakom revealed that troops from the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN acted on intelligence reports indicating that the Jungle Boys cult group was planning to carry out attacks on prominent individuals, including political office holders and community leaders.
The attacks were reportedly in protest against the state government’s ban on illegal mining activities.
Adamu was arrested on March 20, 2025, in Angwan Gainyeh, Sakon-Gyel axis of Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.
In a separate operation on Sunday, troops of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A engaged in a gunfight with criminals near the Youth Centre in the Sabon Layi area.
During the operation, 29-year-old Nashak Wilson was arrested with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
Prompt News reports that further search operations led to the recovery of 30 rustled cows, which were later returned to their rightful owner.
