For the second time this year, the City of Abeokuta witnessed another glamorous wedding ceremony steeped in the foundation of Christian faith as Chidima Oluwatobiloba the first daughter of the Set Man of Victory Life Bible Church, Apostle Lawrence Achudume got married to the love of her life, Israel Aduragbemi Lawal.

Apostle Achudume had earlier in April witnessed his son David Achudume got married to his sweetheart, Florence at colourful wedding at the Victory Life Bible Church, Ajebo road, Abeokuta, with family, friends, loved ones and guests in attendance and many fathers of faith joining hands to bless the wedding.

On Saturday November 22nd, the location remained unchanged as Victory Life Bible Church, draped in sparkling purple colour, witnessed a reenactment of yet another wedding as Chidima Oluwatobiloba tied the nuptial knot with Israel Aduragbemi.

VLBC again played host to family, friends, well wishers, guests from far and near, home and abroad, and the high and mighty came to share in the joy of the Achudume and Lawal families as their children began a new phase of life journey as one family.

The wedding ceremony started at 11 a.m. with thanksgiving songs and praises to appreciate God for making the much awaited momentus event a reality and set the people in a joyous mood to celebrate the special day. The VLBC choir, as usual, did not disappoint as they raised the mood of all congregants and the move of the Holy Spirit.

The Bishop of Egba Diocese, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Emmanuel Adekunle conducted the wedding ceremony as he led the couple in taking the marriage vows, a requirement to be fulfilled according the biblical doctrine of the Christian faith for a man and woman to become husband and wife.

The wedding vows taken with Israel and Tobiloba officially become husband and wife. It was time for the sermon given by Bishop Taiwo Adelakun of Victory International Church, Ibadan Bishop Adelakun reminded the couple that marriage is ordained for companionship, help, comfort, and procreation.

The General Overseer of Victory International Church added that God had planted the natural instinct for attention into man and which should be harnessed in the right atmosphere. He highlighted seven things that couples should do together to enjoy a successful marriage.

Bishop Adelakun noted that the first thing couples must do is to pray together because anything they agree on will be established, and they can command they want in life to be. He urged them to leverage on their praying together to add value to their lives.

He said : “When two hearts pray together they align not only with each other but also with a higher purpose, thereby laying a foundation for a marriage that can weather life’s storms and contribute to nation‑building.”

He also urged the couples to eat together as it is a form of fellowship, just as he urged them to sleep together as not doing this will lead to sleeping around and cause sexual scandal. Other things that the man of God advised couples to do is to play together and serve God together, which has a divine reward that comes doing so.

The clergyman harped on the importance of communication, urging couples to engage in talking to one another. Doing this, he said, prevents tension in the home as issues are resolved when couples dialogue. Finally, Bishop Adelakun advised couples to discipline together so their home does not become a political theatre. He said when the children see the division, they will hide under this, and discipline will be lacking in the home.

“If every home embraces the value of togetherness, Nigeria will see a wave of social cohesion, economic growth and moral leadership that reverberates from the living room to the highest office in the land,” he said.

The Father of the bride, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, expressed his confidence that his daughter is well for marriage, noting the upbringing she and her siblings received, the family’s commitment to Christ’s teachings had shaped their character and prepared them for the responsibilities of married life.

“I have watched her grow in the faith, and I am convinced that the foundation laid in Christ will guide her as a wife and mother,” the apostle said, underscoring the spiritual heritage that underpins the union.
