A dispatch rider has sparked widespread backlash after a viral video showed him consuming part of a customer’s food before completing delivery.
The clip, which surfaced on X over the weekend, captured the rider sitting by the roadside with several packs of small chops placed on the ground.
In the footage, the rider identified as David Agburu was seen opening the food packs, picking pieces from each portion, and eating them before resealing the packages and proceeding with the delivery.
The development drew a reaction from the affected vendor, Larry Spice Ventures, which clarified that the individual was not its staff but a third-party courier engaged through InDrive.
In a statement, the company condemned the act, describing it as unacceptable and inconsistent with its service standards. It added that the incident had been reported to the delivery platform, while the rider had been taken into custody by authorities.

The incident has triggered fresh concerns over food safety and professionalism within the logistics sector, with many Nigerians expressing worry about the handling of consumables during delivery.
Some commentators called on vendors to adopt stricter packaging measures, including tamper-proof seals, to safeguard orders and reassure customers.
The controversy also comes amid rising complaints about irregularities in Nigeria’s delivery ecosystem, including missing items and compromised packages, which stakeholders say could erode public trust if not urgently addressed.
