As a vote of full confidence in her leadership style, members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Abuja Chapter, Saturday, re-elected the incumbent Chairman, Ms. Halima Usman for a second term in office.
Although she was returned unopposed, Usman still got a confidence votes of 37 members out of 41who were eligible to vote in the 2020 ANA Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Elective Convention held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Utako, Abuja.
Others who were elected alongside Usman include the Vice Chairman, Anthony Michael- 28 votes; General Secretary, Collins Ofoma Ezeh- unopposed; Treasurer, Comfort Chenge-29 votes and Legal Adviser, Frank Iwuchukwu
Meanwhile, some of the serving Exco members who were unopposed alongside the Chairman are the Publicity Secretary, Assistant General and Financial Secretary.
The ANA Abuja Chapter election was conducted strictly in line with the Federal Government recommended health protocol including Physical Distancing, use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
The election which was supervised by an Abuja-based popular On-Air Personality (OAP), Benjamin Obiri aka ‘Ben 2000’, saw losers exchange banters with winners in the spirit of no victor no vanquished.
Prior to the AGM/ Elective Convention, erudite scholar, Professor Chudi Uwazurike gave Theme Talk: “Writers and Leadership Influence in Times of Crisis” in which he restated the role of Writers in the present situation in Nigeria.
Among those who witnessed the event are members of ANA Abuja Chapter including the ANA National President, Barrister Ahmed Maiwada who also administered Oath of Office to the newly elected members.
