By Gracious Akujobi Chigozie Agbim, captain of the home-based Super Eagles has waived off any form of threat coming from Dele Alampasu as he looks to man the post for Eagles during the CHAN tournament.
Agbim, says the invitation of Alampasu to camp does not scare him but rather it is an added advantage to the team.
The shot-stopper told Prompt News Online in Abuja that the gold winning Eaglet keeper is a good keeper but not a threat to other goal keepers in camp.
“In football, anything can happen. We all saw what he did at the just concluded FIFA U-17 world cup which brought about his invitation to camp. I will keep doing my best and not take things for granted.
“His inclusion is good for the team because it will help keep everyone on alert but I do not think his invitation is a threat to me”
Agbim heaped praise on team coach Stephen Keshi for inviting three U-17 players, a gesture which he says is the best method to replacing aging players in a team.
“I must commend my coach for his wisdom in extending invitation to these U-17 players. It is only by inviting young players that aging players can be replaced.
“We all know Nigeria is making her debut appearance in CHAN and so our aim and hope as a team is to work very hard to bring the trophy back to the country” he concluded.
