Less than 48 hours to the high-profile international friendly match between Nigeria and Canada in Murcia, Spain, Canada has sounded a note of warnings by beating England 1-0 yesterday in front of the English vociferous fans.
Golden-Girl Christine Sinclair pulled the sucker punch in the 81th minute to silence the English supporters in a winner takes all contest. The Canadians held on to the lead until the full time.
Both coaches- Phill Neville for England and Heiner- Mòller for Canada made four changes each in the highly entertaining match used by the two gaffers to perfect their squad ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup final in France this summer.
Elsewhere, Nigeria’s Group A rivals- Norway continued their impressive form by defeating New Zealand 1-0 away while South Korea lost narrowly to Iceland Women’s National Team (IWMT) 2-3 in the friendly tie.
Also, Group A top dogs and host, France walloped Japan 3-1 a day earlier in the continuation of the pre-tournament international friendly matches.
