By Harry Awurumibe, Editor, Abuja Bureau

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has once again hauled a scathing attack on leaders of the fledging coalition of political parties that assumed control of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as power mongers and failed politicians.

This is even as he has added the leading light of the coalition and former presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi to the list of those he described as being angry with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration because they lost power at the centre.

Wike who spoke today at St. James’ Anglican Church, Asokoro, Abuja, during the occasion of “Thanksgiving Service For Successful Completion Of Projects Commissioning in the FCT” berated the coalition members for plotting the unseating of President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The FCT Minister doubled down on his recent insults on the persons behind the coalition just as he maintained his allegations against some leaders of the coalition, including former vice president Alhaji Abubakar Atiku; former Governor of Anambra state, Obi; ex-Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal; Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation; Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Sports; and Odigie Oyegun, former national chairman of the APC.

Others are Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice; Senator Dino Melaye; Bashorun Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine; Senators Eyinnanya Abaribe; Gabriel Suswan; Ireti Kingibe; Elisha Abbo; and former Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus; Senator Tunde Ogbeha; Senator Victor Umeh; Ms Lauretta Onochie; Senator Liyel Imoke; former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, among others.

Speaking at a media parley last Thursday, Wike had said many of those who are now positioning themselves as rescuers once held powerful offices but left no meaningful impact, saying that they are angry because they lost relevance in today’s Nigeria.

He has again reiterated his earlier stand that the coalition is deaded on arrival because they are a group of failed politicians, pointing out that when they were in power, they failed woefully.

Picking on the leaders of the coalition one by one, the former Rivers state governor accused Obi of not holding Local Government Areas (LGAs) elections throughout his eight years as the governor of Anambra state, and can not rescue Nigeria and Nigerians as he and other coalition members are saying.

Also, Wike alleged that someone like David Mark was a Senate President for eight years without constructing a single motorable road to Oturkpo in his home state of Benue state.

“I heard David Mark say Nigerians are angry and that they want to rescue the country. But he was the senate president for eight years. Was there any project in Otukpo? Not one. He was flying there with helicopters. Were Nigerians not angry then?”, Wike asked sarcastically.

On his Ikwerre ethnic group brother, Amaechi, he accused the former Transportation Minister of saddling Nigeria with Chinese debts, saying: “Amaechi took Chinese loans and buried Nigeria in debt. But they say Nigerians were happy then,” the FCT minister said.

“It’s unfortunate that they will use Nigerians to play politics up and down. When you are angry with me Nigerians were not happy, the only time Nigerians are happy is when you are in power, the moment you are no longer in power, Nigerians are angry.

“Was it under Tinubu’s government that banditry started? He’s trying to solve the problems they left behind”
