Nigerian rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington has been arrested again by the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, almost two months after his previous release.
The rapper, also referred to as Akpi, was taken into custody on 4th of October, following the publication of a controversial video in which he purportedly ridiculed his fellow artist Burna Boy for his connection with American rapper Diddy, who is currently embroiled in legal troubles with the FBI concerning allegations of sexual exploitation.
The outspoken artist was subsequently granted bail on 9th of October, after spending five days in custody.
His attorney, Deji Adeyanju, announced the recent arrest on Wednesday through a post on his official Facebook page.
He stated, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
Attempts made to contact the Nigeria Police Force regarding this incident were unsuccessful, as the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, did not respond to calls.
