By Gracious Akujobi Mark Mentor, one of Nigeria’s representatives in this year’s African Basketball Club Championship have intensified training ahead of the continental tournament.
The Abuja-based privately owned club is among other teams from other parts of Africa that qualified for the male championship which begins on December 12 in Tunisia.
Club’s Head Coach Peter Ahmedu who briefed newsmen on the effort made so far by his team to ensure adequate preparation also disclosed that proposed foreign tour would not take place due to logistics reasons.
According to him “The players and technical crew of the team are doing everything possible to perform well at the championship despite impeding challenges confronting us.
“The president of the club Mark Ogbeche has always told us to go and conquer, so we are not going there to add to numbers. Yes, it will not be an easy task considering the fact that the club is going to be part of the tournament for the very first time but we are definitely going to make our country proud
“The players are improving by the day during training and they are hungry to get the best. From what I see, there is no cause for alarm” He concluded.
Meanwhile, Dolphins and First Bank of Lagos have landed in Tunisia where they are taking part in the Women’s category of the championship which began on Saturday.
