The Athletics Athletics Federation (AFN) has said they are fully behind Tobi Amusan after she was alleged to have violated the anti- doping rule by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).
Amusan has been charged by the AIU for allegedly skipping the compulsory doping test three times in the last one year.
A three-man tribunal will now sit to decide whether the 26-year-old will be permitted to defend her women’s 100m hurdles title at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary next month.
Technical director of the AFN, Samuel Onikeku said the body is not happy with the situation.
“This is not the news we are happy about, Tobi Amusan is just like the face of Nigeria athletics, she’s the one we are proud of and her achievements,”Onikeku told Brila FM.
“Her world championship gold and world record in Oregon last year was a unifying factor in the country.”
