Maduka Okoye has arrived at the Super Eagles camp ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, Prompt News Online reports.
The Udinese goalkeeper arrived in Uyo on Friday morning after receiving permission to remain with his club to attend to some club-related matters.
His arrival means head coach Éric Chelle now has all 24 invited players in camp as preparations continue for the qualifiers.
Okoye’s delayed arrival had sparked concerns ahead of the matches, but Chelle explained on Thursday that the goalkeeper’s absence was approved by the club and the technical crew.
“His club asked me to allow him to take care of some club-related activities, and I agreed. Now, I have to manage the situation,” Chelle said during his interaction with the media.
However, Okoye is not expected to feature in Friday’s opening qualifier against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
