Rwanda stunned Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2-1 in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday six encounter in Uyo on Monday night.
It was Rwanda’s first-ever away victory over Nigeria.
The best chance of the first half fell to the Super Eagles with Fabrice Ntwari producing a superb save to deny Kelechi Iheanacho.
Nigeria took the lead through substitute Samuel Chukwueze one minute before the hour mark.
Chukwueze dribbled past three Rwandan players before slotting the ball past Ntwari.
Rwanda fought back with Jimmy Mutsinzi equalising from a header in the 72nd minute.
The Amavubi took the lead for the first time in the game through Innocent Nshuti three minutes later.
The visitors maintained their lead for the remainder of the game.
Benin Republic picked the second qualifying spot in the group after holding Libya to a 0-0 draw in Tripoli.
