Uganda captain Khalid Aucho claimed the Cranes have no fear for the Super Eagles and other teams in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group.
Paul Put’s side will slug it out with Nigeria , Tunisia and Tanzania in Group C at Africa’s flagship soccer event.
Prompt News recalls that Uganda defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in their only meeting at the AFCON in Ghana 1978.
Nigeria remain one of the most successful countries in the history of the competition with three titles, while Uganda have not made it to the semis since the 1978 edition.
Despite the gulf in class between both countries, Aucho insisted the Cranes can compete favourably with the West Africans.
‘Being at AFCON means you’re strong enough to compete with any team. I know my boys and they will deliver. We want to make our fans happy,” he was quoted by fufa.co.ug.
Uganda will begin their campaign in Morocco 2025 against Tunisia on Tuesday, December 23.
