Newly appointed Super Eagles Interim head coach, Augustine Eguaveon has stated he would likely pick players from Gernot Rohr’s 40-man provisional list for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Eguaveon is expected to name his provisional squad for the competition in the coming days.
But before Rohr was sacked, he confirmed in an interview with Soccernet that he had sent a 40-man provisional list to CAF in November.
And Eguavoen has now confirmed it, adding that the final selection of players will likely come from Rohr’s provisional list.
“The list is out, and we’ve talked about it,” Eguavoen said in an interview with Soccernet.
“The list goes to CAF, so it is from there we are going to see how we get the details back home.”
“So it is from that we are going to pick the players, the list Gernot Rohr submitted,” he added.
The Super Eagles will begin their campaign in Cameroon with a clash against Egypt on January 11 before further games against Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
