The countdown to the 31st Nigerian Economic Summit (NES#31) taking place from October 6–8, 2025 has begun, and with it comes a powerful shift toward reimagining a Nigeria where growth is truly shared by all.
Among the Summit’s core sub-themes, “Advancing Inclusion for Shared Growth” stands out as a bold call to action; demanding that economic progress be felt by all Nigerians and not just a privileged few.
Inclusion is no longer a policy add-on but has become the foundation of a resilient, equitable, and united nation. As socioeconomic disparities continue to cut across gender, geography, age, and ability, this sub-theme challenges policymakers, institutions, and the private sector to rethink how growth is achieved and who it serves. It urges the design of intentional policies, programmes, and reforms that lift people from the margins and place them at the centre of Nigeria’s development journey.
Why Inclusion Matters
Shared growth means more than just GDP expansion—it means expanding access to opportunity and empowering all Nigerians to contribute to and benefit from national prosperity.
From youth and women to people with disabilities and underserved communities, millions of Nigerians remain excluded from the formal economy and decision-making spaces.
Addressing these gaps is vital for unleashing the country’s full productive capacity.
At NES #31, stakeholders will explore innovative approaches to education, skills development, healthcare, social protection, digital access, and financial inclusion. These are foundational to enabling participation, reducing inequality, and strengthening human capital.
This Summit aims to shift the narrative from charity to strategy—where inclusion is seen as a smart economic imperative, not just a social goal.
NES #31: Elevating Inclusion through Reform With the overarching theme, “Sustaining Reforms for Prosperity and Inclusive Development,” NES #31 will examine how policy reforms can dismantle structural barriers and drive long-term inclusion.
Discussions under this sub-theme will spotlight:
Gender-responsive budgeting and inclusive policy frameworks
Expanding access to quality education, health services, and jobs
Leveraging technology for inclusion in finance, governance, and enterprise
Strengthening legal protections and representation for vulnerable groups
Mainstreaming youth voices and innovation in national development strategies.
By focusing on inclusion, the Summit reinforces the idea that sustainable economic growth must uplift every Nigerian.
This aligns directly with the NESG’s Arc of the possible Strategy, where job creation, population governance, and productivity are central pillars for Nigeria’s medium-term development (2025–2030).
A Future Built by All, for All NESG recognises that inclusion must be more than a theme—it must become a national ethos. NES #31 will serve as a rallying point for bold commitments from government, business, civil society, and development partners.
