Former Super Eagles mid-fielder Mutiu Adepoju, has joined the growing list of coaches angling for vacant national Under-20 and Under-23 jobs.
Adepoju, a member of the 1994 all conquering Super Eagles squad said he decided to aspire to coach any of the two national age-grade teams because he has what it takes to deliver
The former general manager of Ibadan based Shooting Star Sports Club (3SC) revealed his desire to coach a national side when he visited the Sports Minister in Abuja, alongside five members of the 1994 Eagles to demand for redemption of the houses gift promised them by the federal government 19 years ago when they won the African Cup of Nations.
“I have the required coaching certificates to coach any of the national teams and I have also coached youth teams abroad as well as joining to coach 3SC in the league. Now is the time to impact all the experience I acquire to the boys.
He continued “I want to aside winning with the Flying Eagles also produce the next generation of Super Eagles players. Being a product of the Flying Eagles in 1999 set, I feel the quality of that team in recent years has dropped and needed to be revived” he stated.
Adepoju divulged further that the Nigerian league is blessed with a lot of youthful talents that will service all age grade teams without foreign based players
He commended the League Management Committee for instilling some element of sanity, discipline and organization into the Nigeria Premier League, adding that he sees the league growing to be among the best in the world.
