The Abia Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Prof. Godwin Emezue, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Abia State University, Uturu, by hoodlums.
The command confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Umuahia by its Spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, and made available to newsmen on Saturday.
Chinaka explained that Emezue was abducted in his vehicle and in the company of his wife at about 7pm on Friday.
According to the statement, the incident occured while he was buying petrol at a service station in Umuekwu Amachara, near Umuahia.
It further stated that “the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged him into a Lexus SUV and drove away with him”.
“The command is deploying resources and assets, including intelligence and technical aid, towards unravelling the crime and safely rescuing the victim from his captors.

“We urge Abia people to remain calm and continue their legitimate activities, while maintaining vigilance and being security conscious
“Furthermore, we seek the cooperation of the public, especially by way of providing any useful information that could be helpful in these particular circumstances and in attaining enhanced security in the state, generally,” the statement added. (NAN)
