Apparently following the rules of the game, the Nigeria Premier Football League ((NPFL) has sanctioned Enyimba International and Enugu Rangers for breaching its framework and rules in their highly publicised
Matchday 35 encounter at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday which ended in fiasco.
The action-packed match ended abruptly in the extra time when a late penalty awarded to Rangers after Enyimba’s defender was adjudged to have committed an infringement in the box resulted to a fracas and abandonment of the match.
Prompt News reports that the League governing body has now awarded three points and three goals to Rangers International and fined Enyimba FC the sum of Ten million naira (N10m) only for breaching the League Frameworks.
In the same vain, the hosts, Enugu Rangers have been slammed with a fine of Five million naira (N5m) for various offences, including non provision of adequate security, encroachment on to the pitch by fans and other unauthorized persons as well as sales of tickets to spectators more than the stadium capacity leading to encroachment of the pitch.
However, both Rangers and Enyimba have 48 hours to appeal the decision of the league board which may go to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Organising and Displinary Committee and later Appeal Committee. READ ALSO:
