By Gracious Akujobi All athletes in the top-10 list of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) are henceforth to complete and submit their whereabouts information to the Federation’s secretariat quarter
This directive is contained in the brief released by the AFN’s technical department ahead of the national competitions for 2014 and made available to Prompt News Online.
According to AFN’s Technical Director, Omatseye Nesiama, failure to comply with the directive will attract sanction prescribed by IAAF.
Nesiama says the brief has been sent as a circular to all states and clubs for their digestion and compliance in order for the Federation to have a seamless organization of its activities in 2014.
The high points of the brief includes: introduction of athletes’ whereabouts information procedure, registration of states/clubs, events and rules for 2014 AFN golden league, league focus and qualification procedures.
Others are transport and accommodation subsidy, competition uniforms, registration procedure, running bibs, payment of prize monies and expected standards to be achieved, prize money structure, jackpot prize, league programme of events and doping control.
The athletes of AFN have been in camp since last year in preparation for the Commonwealth Games.
